Websites for independent jewellers · London

I’m Chris Learey. For three years I was Head of Design at Nivoda — the diamond marketplace 10,000+ retailers buy through — where I designed the storefront experience their jewellers sell on. Now I build websites for independent jewellers, one shop at a time.

The diamond trade already runs on things I designed.

I’ve spent 20 years designing for the web, and most recently designing exclusively inside this industry — its suppliers, its certificates, its stones, and the way people actually buy them. This is one of them: a live diamond search, a ring your customer builds themselves, a real checkout. I designed it for Nivoda; it runs today.

Nivoda’s Ring Studio — a three-step ring builder with style, metal, shape and price filters over a live grid of set diamonds.

And this is the other side of the same job — the certificate. WISE is a new certification service, founded on transparency and on educating the person actually buying the stone. I designed it: you can trace your diamond’s journey across the world, and inspect every grade on the report through interactive widgets that show you what it means.

A WISE diamond certificate — colour grade E shown interactively on the D-to-Z scale, with clarity, cut, carat, polish and symmetry alongside a photograph of the stone and a link to trace its journey.

What do I actually make? Two things.

A shop window — for a jeweller with nothing online, or a site that’s stopped doing its job: your pieces photographed properly, your story, and an easy way for someone to book an appointment or ask about a commission. Findable on Google, and it works on a phone.

Or a shop — the same, plus a real checkout: browsing products, ring builder, checkout. The lot.

Either way, it goes like this:

  1. i.Twenty minutes. Tell me about the shop. I’ll tell you honestly whether I can help.
  2. ii.A fixed price, in writing. Agreed before anything starts. A deposit, then I begin.
  3. iii.Two to three weeks. You’re live — and I’m still here afterwards, month to month, so it never quietly rots.

If your website isn’t doing your shop justice, ring me.
